From birth to four months

The first of which babies learn is to focus your eyes on people, and then gradually moved on to interesting lighting or bright objects that are close to them away. Newborns have the ability to retain only a momentary sight of the object for several seconds, but only after 8 to 12 weeks they should start tracking eye movements of people and objects. In the beginning when babies want to move their eyes on something, they move their entire head, but from 2 to 4 – month old they begin to move their eyes independently with much less movement of the head. By tracking moving objects with eyes infants begin developing the abilities to control their eyesight. Babies have not learned to use both eyes simultaneously, and when have not gotten enough nerve – muscle control, sometimes crossed eyes. This worried parents, but for their soothing to 4-5 months of age babies usually learn how to coordinate eye movements and crossing should stop. (If the crossing of the eyes continued beyond this age, this may indicate a problem. In such cases, seek advice from a specialist – an ophthalmologist). From four months children begin to not overreach and take objects, which marks the beginning of coordination between the eyes and hands. At the same time the baby’s visual abilities have developed to the color vision before them, and so gradually reveals a new, exciting world.

From four to six months

Once babies have learned to face head alone to reverse, to sit and move, began implementation of coordination between body and vision. They acquire the ability to control their own movements in space. For four to six month babies are experts in coordinating eyes and hands by beginning to drink water from the nipple and caught free random objects. Hands become the most important tool – starts a continual reaching toward everything they see and reach. This is the age where they start trying to remember things they see. By the fourth or fifth month of the infant brain has already learned to merge the images coming from the left and right eye in a single comprehensive, volumetric images from both eyes. Understanding the dimensions of space and continues to improve until the baby is trying to just hits the object it wants to hold in your hand. Similarly, improving their skills to focus and control eyes as they learn to change quickly and accurately focus the eye. Normal visual acuity child develops normally until the age of six months.

From six to eight months

Most babies begin to crawl in this period, helping to further improve eye coordination – body. They learn to judge distances and set visual targets, such as when they see something interesting to go to him to take it. This sudden palpable freedom of movement allows the child’s accumulation of experience with new challenges and improve the ability of visual perception, while it compares with growth rates of surrounding objects and recognizes differences in size, shape and position. Within six months, babies have acquired significant and precise control over your eyes. The only thing some experts warn that the early toddlers are likely children will not learn to use both eyes simultaneously. This also applies to children who crawl too long and your eyes accustomed to viewing objects at close range.

From eight to twelve months

Babies already differ of objects at all distances. Coordination of the eyes – hands – body allows them to take and throw objects fairly accurately. Capabilities such as visual perception, visual memory help understanding of the child in this new world. Combining vision with good motor coordination allows children to use small objects, and most began even to eat with your fingers alone. As soon as toddlers, children learn to use vision to guide and direct the overall movement of their bodies.

From toddlers to preschoolers

Preschoolers (5-6 years old to) children continue to develop their senses. So for them it is important to refine the coordination between eyes, hands and body to be able to determine exactly how far are nearby objects and perceive them in their volume. Arranging constructor throwing a ball, coloring, painting contribute to the development of these important skills in the child. Read to your children! It also has a positive influence on them because they develop their imagination while they try to imagine the mental picture that you “paint” with words .A child should go to their first eye exam around six months, and the next review, unless otherwise prescribed, shall be the period until the age of 3 – years old. If your family is suffering from eye problems, take your child earlier in the ophthalmologist to make sure that there is no cause for concern or if there may have discovered this time. Before leaving school is also appropriate to make a routine review of your child’s eyes.
